He married (1) Julian Wilson August 20, 1833 in Delaware, IN, daughter of James Wilson and Elizabeth. She was born May 22, 1815 died April 1838 in Henry Co, IN. Notes for Philip Moore:
Last Will and Testament of Philip Moore of Blue River Township, which was signed and sealed 26 Aug 1873 was admitted to probate 1 Dec 1873. Philip was among the largest land owners in the county, and had property, real and personal, which was estimated to be worth $60,000-$70,000.

Philip Moore was born in Preble County, Ohio, April 24, 1812, a son of William and Catherine (Cotener) Moore, his father a native of East Tennessee, and his mother of Germany. When he was fourteen years of age his parents moved to Indiana, and settled on eighty-five acres of land in Blue River Township, Henry County. He remained with his father till twenty-one years of age, helping him clear his land, and walking each harvest season to Preble County, where he worked for 60 cents a day. When twenty-one years of age, in 1833, he was married to Julia Ann, daughter of James and Elizabeth Willson. In 1834 they entered forty acres of land (the grain elevator at Mooreland is located on a portion of it), and was assisted in paying for it by his uncle, Samuel Moore, of Wayne County. His wife died in 1838, leaving four sons - William A., born in 1833, now a farmer of Howard County, Ind., married Mandy Hensley, of Illinois; James H., born in 1835, married Emily L. Lamb, and is a farmer of White County, Ind.; Miles M., born in 1836, married Nancy Lamb, and lives on the old homestead; Henry H., a farmer of Henry County, was born in 1838, and married Lucinda Clapper. After the death of his wife his sons lived with their grandparents till 1846, when he was married to Elizabeth Terhune, of Missouri, and settled on the land first entered by him. To this second marriage were born four children - B. F., born in 1846, is a carpenter of New Castle, and married Emma Kilmer, of Blountsville; John W., born in 1848, married Bettie Keisling, and is a physician of Mechanicsburg; Charles P., a farmer of Blue River Township, was born in 1850, and married Fannie White; Mary Jane, born in 1852, was married in 1872 to Reason Davis, of Henry County. Mr. Moore was an energetic, persevering man, a good manager, combined with a shrewdness which enabled him to accumulate property. Having a desire to see his children comfortably settled in life, he did not wait for death to give them their portion, but aided them when they left the paternal roof to establish homes of their own. In 1873 he became afflicted with consumption, and for seven months was a great sufferer, but retained his right mind till death relieved him, Nov. 27, 1873. He was buried in the German Baptist cemetery, Hagerstown, Ind. His wife, Elizabeth, survived him seven years. A suffered from rheumatism, she was unable to attend to her house for a number of years, and therefore made her home with her son, Charles P. The last year of her life she was almost helpless, but was cheered by frequent visits from all the children. March 11, 1880, she was stricken with paralysis of the heart, and died very suddenly, and was buried by the side of her husband. We here append a copy of a portion of the last will of Mr. Moore, made while suffering from his last sickness. It was signed and sealed Aug. 23, 1873, and was admitted to probate Dec. 1:
Item I. - After my just debts and funeral expenses shall be paid, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Elizabeth Moore, the sum of $8,000 for and during her natural life; and the interest of said sum shall be sufficient to afford her a good and comfortable support and maintenance. Then such portion of the principal of the above sum shall be taken and appropriated by her as may be necessary to render her a comfortable and suitable living during her said life.
II. - I have heretofore made to my children the following advancements, to wit: To William A. Moore, $2,000; to James H. Moore, $1,500; to Miles M. Moore, $1,700; to Henry H. Moore, $3,000; to Benjamin F. Moore, $3,000; to John W. Moore, $1,500; to Charles P. Moore, $3,000; to Mary J. Davis, $1,500.
III. - I give and bequeath to my children above named, after deducting and setting apart the above legacy to my wife, all the rest and residue of my estate, both real and personal, to equally be divided among them, subject to and taking into account the above-named advancements.
IV. - In case my wife should elect to take her portion of the real estate, as provided by law, instead of accepting the provision made for her in this will, then, and in that case, I deduct from the shares of Benjamin F. Moore, John W. Moore, Charles P. Moore and Mary J. Davis an amount which would be equal to any amount which they might invest or get from their mother's estate, in case my children by my first wife do not get an equal portion with my children by my second wife of said estate.
V. - In case my wife accepts the provisions of this will, then I give and bequeath to all of my children whatever of my estate shall be remaining and unconsumed at her death, to be equally divided among them, as specified in the third item of this will.
I hereby nominate and appoint Henry H. Moore and Charles P. Moore as my executors.

While Prairie Township is distinguished for its many fine farm homesteads, there are few residents of that township who control a greater landed acreage and have been better prospered from year to year during the last half century than James H. Moore. Mr. Moore's land holdings extend beyond the limits of White County, and he is one of the most substantial property men in his section of Indiana. His large and attractive rural home is in section 17 of Prairie Township, nine miles south of Monticello.
Fully eighty years have passed since James H. Moore first saw the light of day in Henry County, Indiana, on January 7, 1835. While he still attends to a routine of duties and goes about with firm step and unclouded mind, he has long been in a position where he could command his own time and take leisure as he needed it. He was the second son in the family of Philip and Julia A. (Wilson) Moore. His grandfather, William Moore, a native of Tennessee, married Catherine Cotener, and lived for some years in Preble County, Ohio, and finally became one of the very early pioneer settlers in Henry County, Indiana. He was one of the young western men who participated as soldiers in the second war with Great Britain from 1812 to 1815.
In Eastern Indiana James H. Moore grew to maturity, received such education as the schools of that time offered, and was already a vigorous, prospering and progressive young man when he married on December 22, 1861, Emily L. Lamb. Mrs. Moore was born in Wayne County, Indiana, where her father, Thomas Lamb, was a farmer. For two years after his marriage Mr. Moore lived on rented land, and it was in that way that he got his start in the world. He then bought eighty acres in Howard County, Indiana, but after farming there a year came to his present location in Prairie Township of White County in 1865. In partnership with his brother Miles M. Moore he bought 265 acres there, and under their joint proprietorship they subsequently increased their holdings to 365 acres. In 1874 Mr. Moore bought out his brother's interests, and as a result of selling and buying his present land holdings in White County comprises 250 acres. He is also owner of 190 acres in Carroll County, and has a considerable stake in the lands of Western Canada, owning 332 acres forty miles south of Winnipeg in the Province of Manitoba, all of which is under cultivation. Another important interest which Mr. Moore holds and which has been the means of contributing to the industrial activities of the state is a block of stock in the Indiana Iron Rolling Mill Company at Newcastle, Indiana.
Mr. and Mrs. Moore several years ago celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of their wedding, and there are few couples in White County who have traveled together the road of life for a longer time. Both are members of the United Brethren Church. They are the parents of two children. Mary L. married Wilson B. Lucas of Battleground [sic], and they live with Mr. and Mrs. Moore. Hattie E. is the wife of C. W. Mouch, who is now president and general manager of the Indiana Iron Rolling Mill Company at Newcastle and also president of the Farmers State Bank at Newcastle. He is at the present time erecting a $28,000 residence at that place. Mr. and Mrs. Mouch have two children named Lois H. and James Edward. Mr. and Mrs. Moore have one of the most beautiful modern country residences in White County. It is equipped with all modern improvements, and is a large and spacious mansion, it is built like an English Manor House. Fraternally Mr. Moore is an honored member of the Masonic Fraternity of Brookston, Indiana.

New Castle Courier, Friday April 16, 1886, page 5, col 3:
Miles M. Moore died suddenly on Wednesday morning last, at his home near Mooreland. He was apparently in good health the night before, and his sudden demise was a sad surprise to his friends. The funeral services were held at the Friend's Church in Nettle Creek, on Thursday , at 2 o'clock.
New Castle Courier, Friday April 16, 1886, page 8 col. 2:
This community was shocked this morning by the news that Miles Moore had suddenly fallen dead. At first people could hardly believe it to be true. While the family was busy about their work in the morning, about 5 o'clock, he was discovered lying upon the porch when Frank Fleming and his son Eugene ran to him only to see him take the last gasp for life. He was examined by Drs. Hardesty and Clapper, who pronounced the cause of death as apoplexy. He leaves a son and wife, who, with many other relatives, deeply mourn their loss. Mrs. Moore, was just recovering from a hard spell of sickness, which makes her troubles harder to bear.
Miles is buried at the Nettle Creek Friends Cemetery in Wayne County, IN. Philip Moore died November 27, 1873 (age 61) with his second wife Elizabeth (d. March 11, 1880, age 67) at Brick Church Cemetery at Nettle Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
Miles M. Moore, farmer, postoffice Mooreland, was born in Blue River Township, Nov. 18, 1836, the third son of Philip and Julia Ann (Willson) Moore. His boyhood was spent with his parents, receiving his education in the district schools. When twenty-four years of age he took a trip West, and after his return home remained with his father till Aug. 27, 1861, when he enlisted in Company C, Thirty-second Indiana Infantry, and participated in the battles of Perryville, Ky., Stone River, Tenn. (where they were under fire nine days), and Chickamauga; from there fell back to Chattanooga, where they remained till early winter. In the spring the division was assigned to the command of General Hooker, and took part in the battle of Lookout Mountain; assisted General Sherman at Mission Ridge, and the battle of White Oak Ridge. From Ringgold the division fell back to Whitesides, and remained there till spring, and while on the march, ten miles from Chattanooga, he received an order from General Thomas to report at his headquarters in Chattanooga for signal service duty. After being drilled eight weeks, he was ready for duty, and served about nine months. He participated in the engagement at Resaca, Ga., and the Atlanta campaign, where his last service was performed in the top of a tree sixty feet from the ground. He was discharged at Atlanta, Sept. 15, 1864, and returned home. March 26, 1865, he was married to Nancy Lamb, daughter of Thomas and Elvyra Lamb, of Dalton, Ind., and immediately went to White County, Ind., where he and his brother had bought 250 acres of land for $7,500. After making the first payment he had $30 left, with which to go to housekeeping. His wife was energetic and economical, and they appropriated but a portion of this for household purposes, spending the rest for corn and hay. After her work in the house was completed she went to the field and assisted her husband till time to prepare the noonday meal. After dinner she again worked in the field till evening. May 12, 1867, a son - Philip Edgar - was born, and then her time was taken up by household duties and the care of their child, who became the pride of their lives. Jan. 15, 1869, a second son was born - Thomas Eugene. His wife's health from this time was very much impaired, and he became discouraged. In 1872, Eddie, as he was called, was seized with brain fever, and after ten days and nights of suffering his spirit was called home. His wife wishing it, they carried the early remains to Wayne County, and interred them in Nettle Creek Cemetery. They returned to White County, but the health of the family not improving, he sold his interest in the White County farm, and in 1874, after the death of his father, bought a portion of the old homestead, and Aug. 18 returned to Henry County. After their return to this county their health improved, and their prospects are not bright for a prosperous future. Their son Eugene is now a robust youth, in his sixteenth year, and promises to make an energetic and useful man. After paying for the 250 acres first purchased in White County, Mr. Moore and his brother bought a farm of 110 acres adjoining, which they also paid for. He now owns 170 acres of land, all well improved. He and his wife have been members of the United Brethren church eight years. In his political views Mr. Moore adheres to the National Greenback party. He is a leading member of the party, taking an active interest in all political issues, and sustaining the principle that the Government should issue all money to be a full legal tender for all purposes both public and private.

BENJAMIN LLOYD MUGG.
Benjamin Lloyd Mugg was born in Howard county February 4, 1850, the son of William and Jemima E. (Cummings) Mugg. Grandfather Mugg was born in Kentucky, while grandfather Cummings hailed from Massachusetts. The former came to Owen county, Indiana, in an early day, owning a farm there where he made his home and reared his children, about eight in number. He is supposed to have been a soldier in the War of 1812. He reached a good old age. Grandfather Cummings also came to Owen County in an early day, fanned there and raised a large family, dying at an advanced age. He was recognized by everyone who knew him as being a high grade farmer even for that early time. The subject's grandparents were devout church people.
Benjamin Lloyd Mugg attended the district schools in Howard County and worked on the old home farm where he was raised and has lived there ever since, a part of which he inherited and the balance of his present farm he has since purchased, the place now consisting of one hundred and ten acres. He and his wife formerly owned an adjoining farm on which they built a beautiful frame house which is now owned by his son-in-law.
Mr. Mugg was united in marriage September 3, 1871, to Sophia Ware, daughter of Jesse and Phoebe (Moore) Ware. She is a native of Howard County, this family having consisted of three girls. Her father recently passed away at an advancedage, having been known as a high class farmer and an upright gentleman.
Five children have been born to the subject and wife, three of whom died in infancy. Iona is the widow of B. G. Armstrong and the mother of two sons, all of whom make their home with Mr. and Mrs. Mugg; Iza is the wife of William L.Wilcox, who lives on the farm formerly owned by our subject and wife. They have three children.

Notes for Arthillo "Tillo" Monroe Collver:
Biography: From Orville Dodge's Pioneer History of Coos and Curry Counties:
Arthillo Monroe Collver (b. 21 Oct 1869 South Coos River Ore.) (d. 11 Sept 1954 OR.) He was a successful farmer of Coos County located up Catching Inlet. He had 160 acres which consisted of mostly pasture land for dairy farming. He received his education at the public school in which his father Alfred helped found. At the age of 14, he started work for himself, taking up work for his brothers for about 5 years, then purchased a small number of cattle and some time later rented his brothers farm of 200 acres and engaged in general farming. He afterward held a position of lighthouse keeper at Cape Arago for a short time but continued to give the necessary attention to his farming interests on his brothers place. In company with his older brother Ansel Mark Collver, he purchased 160 acres, and in 1904 purchased his brothers interest in the property. Twenty acres of land he brought to a high state of cultivation for use with a select herd of 15 dairy cows. He netted 85 dollars per annum per cow which was a record at that time.

On June 15, 1898, "Tillo" was united in marriage to Miss Carrie Moore, Dufur, Wasco County Oregon. Borne in Woodbine, Harrison County, Iowa 28 May 1880, she was the daughter of William H. and Elmira (Towne) Moore, the former a native of Indiana and the latter of Illinios. The Moores had 6 children: Marshall Moore, Frank Moore, Carrie (married Tillo Collver ), Anna (m. Ed Colfelt), Jennie (m. Clarence R. Collver) and Arthur Moore. Apparently Arthur resided with Tillo and Carrie a number of years. Tillo and Carrie had 8 children of their own: Chester Alfred, Vernon W Williams, Gladys Lucille, Gordon Monroe, Enid R., Marshall Monroe, Keith Truman, Joyce Almira. Tillo was a loyal adherent of the Republican party and was an officer of the school district. He belonged to the Woodsmen of the World and the Knights of Pythias. He and his wife were members of the United Brethren Church.
